Hello!

Welcome to Reality Math!

Many units revised for 2019.  Others are being revised.  New taxes units soon based on the new tax laws.

Here you will find individual units for college students embedding upper-level arithmetic into a variety of subject areas. Every unit is real application of mathematics in which student develop quantitative reasoning skills and learn more about the reality of the context. Solutions for all units and a test questions will be happily provided to teachers.

The elementary school mathematics units posted so far are embedding mathematics skills and reasoning in the context of food.  I believe that children need to know much more about food to make good food choices.  When children are informed and begin to make better food choices, the health and well-being of the children will improve and the epidemic of obesity and diet-related illnesses such as diabetes will decrease.

I have solutions for all units, just email me a request.

    Hello Dot,
I am a member of the Curriculum Improvement Project steering committee for the NC Community College System. Two of my colleagues and I will be piloting materials for our system’s new Quantitative Literacy course.
Eric Gaise from Bowdoin U turned us on to your materials at a recent workshop, and we have already selected a few that we would like to use.
We would love to have your answers and test items. I look forward to hearing from you.
    Thank you,
    Hilary
